Today’s theme was “our favourite engines” with nearly everybody bringing in and running something. Doug was first on the Circuit with the Dapol 08 that he’d picked up cheaply and then Graham set up a long paper train which was hauled firstly by his ex-LNER A3 “Tranquil” in a BR blue livery and then by his ex-LNER Thompson class A2/1 “Highland Chieftain” in BR green. Rob had brought along a few goods wagons which were pulled around firstly by his LSWR B4 0-4-0T and then by an SR B4 0-4-0T No. 87.

Graham’s paper train stayed on the circuit for most of the morning being hauled by several different locomotives and surprisingly some of the smaller ones did better than some of the much larger ones. Fred ran his GWR Castle “Earl of Dartmouth” with the paper train and then his ex-GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 “Farnborough Hall”. Tim had brought along a very nice J94 0-6-0ST and also a GER J68 0-6-0T which he is in the process of building. Martin had his GWR Prairie 2-6-2T No. 4564 and David G had brought along a Black Five. On the big table Doug was putting together a laser cut low relief building and over lunch Roger reported on the Gravesend show that he, Tim and others had attended with his plank layout and our banner on the previous weekend. We discussed and agreed David Ho’s previously circulated proposals for the club’s micro layout and David will be looking for some help to progress that. On Lenham, it was reported that we are shortly to have a small working party set up the boards and agree the track plan for the fiddle yard. As usual David Ho kept us all provide with teas and coffees until we packed everything away and headed off home. Chris
