This was another of the extra meetings for members to work on their own projects. Dave B continued working on the EMU that he had picked up for a song (almost literally) at a recent show. The model is coming along really well and is almost ready for Dave to apply transfers. They are likely to cost in the region of £50 but given how little Dave has spent on the model so far, he was able to remain remarkably sanguine about it. Roger had brought in a box of bits and pieces for the micro layout and had been hoping to discuss them with David Ho. However, in David’s absence Roger had to make do with me instead. Roger also informed us that the East Sussex group had in fact invited us to bring a sales table and/or small plank layout along to their open day at Pett this year but had just forgotten to tell us. Paul H found himself a spot by the window and continued working on his GWR riding vans. Paul explained that as these vans had internal shelving down both sides natural light was provided by roof lights. David L and Barry carried on testing and recording the Queen Charlotte Dock electrics for posterity before trying to work out why David’s new DCC diesel shunter sounded like it had ambitions to take on mainline express duties when travelling at slow speeds. And finally, Bill had been hoping to add dummy chairs to the track work on Queen Charlotte Dock but as they were not yet available joined the rest of the non-combatants at the big table putting the world to rights.
