After an early start from our respective homes, the team (Chris, David L, Steve, Roger and David Ho) arrived within minutes of each other at the venue. Unfortunately, the space we were allocated in the main hall was either up some steps (front) or down some steps (back). We chose the latter as it was nearer the car park.
The set-up went smoothly and within an hour we had all the boards and buildings in place, wires connected and PLA stock out. Steve provided further wagons and Tim’s Jinties were soon rumbling around the lower level. Up top, a variety of passenger stock (matched in its sets) was soon working. This time there was a slight variation that saw both platforms occupied in a modification to the usual sequence. Having two Terriers in identical liveries caused some confusion amongst two of the operators whose aging eyes couldn’t always see the number plates…….
The day went well with a good number of visitors stopping to admire, comment on and generally approve the layout. The two levels brought particularly positive comments. Unfortunately, with just half an hour to go, a couple of wagons decided to not run through a particular point on the layout. So, after David L made some notes about this to resolve back at Badlesmere, we shut down, packed up and went home. A good day out. Roger
